2. Characteristic
It is produced by fusion of aluminum oxide and other auxiliary materials in electric arc furnace. It appears light blue color and multi-edged with good natural grain shape. The numbers of complete crystals exceed 95%. Its compressive strength is more than 26N and toughness is 90.5%. Sharp corners, good brittleness and high toughness are the nature of blue mono-crystalline aluminum oxide. Its quality is far better than previous grey ones. Grinding wheels made of it have smooth grinding surface and won't burn work piece. As well, there is no odor and no pollution. It is a new and widely used abrasive material.
Single crystal Fused Alumina (SA) is used to grind stainless steel, high-speed steel and heat sensitive steel, etc.
